Fabric Hunting
So, today we went to Michael Levine to take a gander at possible quilt fabrics. I wanted to take a trip down there since the selection is rather extensive. The problem seems to be, thoguh, that it's a little too extensive. There were lots of good fabrics there, but I found it so hard to choose 6 lights and 6 darks that all went well together. I'd had a bit of an idea to do one light/dark in each of the standard rainbow colors (red-orange-yellow-green-blue-purple) on either a white or black background, and I'm still interested in this idea. But none of the tone-on-tone or semi-solids or solid prints they had there really spoke to me.
I had also been looking online at fat quarter packs, just for color combo inspiration ideas, when I stumbled across this one. It's a really unique combination--something I wouldn't have thought of myself--but not too cheesy or uber-fussy-quilty. I think it will work nicely for a "mod" quilt, so after returning empty-handed from the store, I went ahead and ordered the set.
Now I just have to wait for it to arrive--and try to keep myself from going to the quilt store to buy a completely different set of fabric in the meantime...
